Positive results
- Protection of the lungs against diabetus (rat models)
- Protection of the kidneys against diabetus (rat models)
- Protection of the Hippocampus against diabetus (rat models)
- Measurable protein marker changes in breast cancer (rat models)
- Reversal of damage to the testicles, semen (rat models)
- May be a useful base for anti-inflammatories, or anti-prion drugs
Negative results
- Gets in to organs; escaping at variable speeds. Stays in the liver for days after ingestion.
- Carbon marked C60 found to exit body very slowly in mice and rat models; found increases in oxidative stress in the models
- Inflames the lungs if inhaled (rat models.)
- Needs manufacturing purity regulation; should be deep purple but tested commercial C60s were not. Improperly stored C60 was shown to increase the speed rat models died.
