This card can also be read via Gemini.

A device which typically encodes audio as a square wave which flips between positive and negative voltages of a fixed amplitude. The signal is conveyed through the skin and tuned until the person begins experiencing sound "inside the head." Can take up to several hours of tuning before a person experiences it (ex. in the case of the neurally deaf.)

DIY models are made. Minor anecdotes about "ocular migraines" from using the DIY model for several hours.

Very high frequencies are required; 40khz, 50khz.

Flanagan's Neurophone uses two "differentiator" circuits to filter the square wave. He does not say why specifically. The DIY model uses an off the shelf square wave generator directly. Probably the migraines are related to the same nerve issues that result from TENS which lead to the introduction of the Lily Wave (which is a gentler variation of a square that is believed to return the charge to nerves and avoid build-up of pain over time.)

There are claims by Bearden and Nick Begich that the Neurophone is also usable as an instrument for synthetic telepathy.
