Minority Rule

This card is a restatement of Taleb's comments on how an intolerant minority can take over a larger population. It is described in Skin in the Game.
Minority Rule, fractals
- A majority is assumed to have no strong opinions.
- The intolerant minority has extremely strong opinions.
- When ~5% of a community capitulates to the minority then their rules turn in to the custom.
- This community then, as a cohesive unit, participtes in projecting the intolerance against other communities of similar sizes.
- This projection to ever larger units follows a fractal pattern where a community is infected which allows it to infect larger communities ad infinitum.
Minority Veto
There is also a concept of "minority veto."
This posits the idea that some companies persist not because they are good but because they are vetoed by the least number of intolerant actors.
