Swain's "Motivational Reaction Unit"

A writing technique that says all line of a book, where a character acts, should be written in this template:

[Feeling] [Reaction] [Speech].

Actions and reactions are described in order of speed; the immediate sensory response of an action is faster than a decision, while a decision is faster than speech, such that someone feels pain and then becomes angry and then shouts "Ow!"
