Violet Star of the Self-slain

Retired plot point about someone causing the Shattering, an event where the veil of worlds is blown up. This results in the death of the Self-slain which leaves behind a massive violet star. The violet star is used as the primary source of light in the city anchored within an open void.

Aetherships sail the void; shaped like zeppelins with archimedes pump-like drills that pull through the aether to move the zeppelin forward.

Aetherships on occasion rescue people who are lost in the void, carrying them back to the City.

Fun side plot is that some aetherships burn the demons residing in the void when they are captured. This angers them but is an effective source of power. Thus demons attack and destroy or are captured by ships and subsequently burned which provokes further demon attacks.
