Designed in an era where there were no real guarantees about keys on the keyboard.

Uses the Control key and a "diamond" of keys for controls; with ESDX used to move the caret. (Arrow keys were not always available.)

^A and ^F navigate a document by words.

^W and ^Z scroll the screen by lines.

^R and ^C scroll the screen by pages.

Supporting bookmarks to entire selected regions of text.

Configurable; which punctuation is skipped when navigating words or when to update column indicators.
