Mother color theory: a "mother" code that sets the mood for the entire paint job. This color is mixed in to all colors which are then painted on the model.

In this video the mother color is the base coat. Model has highlights painted on with the base coat being used as the shading.

Hair: sheen on hair; envisioning a halo above the head which then lands downward and shading wherever the halo would land and wrap.

Highlights: avoiding too bright of highlights on parts of the model which are not the centerpiece.

Blending: painting blocky and blobby strokes on to the model
