- Land value used to correlate with access to jobs.
- Construction happened organic/radially from a trade port or a natural resource.
- Trains increased the value of land outside of the resource.
- Street cars further increased and away from resources.
- Post WW2 everyone expected to own a house and car, leading to housing districts built where is cheap and you would drive to the train.
- Euclid zoning: an area can be used for only one purpose.
- Mixed-use zoning: an area can be used for one or more purposes, or all purposes within one structure.
- Mixed-use zoning was common until 1926, then forgotten about until city planning games.
- Hierarchial streets are intended to ease pressure on road use.
- General Motors, Good Year and others subsidized a fake transit company to buy up street cars and destroy the public transportation system to drive up automobile vehicle sales.
- Cities reframed as a place you visit and not live.
- Commoddification: empty condos and storefronts, left vacant in the hopes of attracting higher paying tenants instead of utilizing the space.
