- It’s a trick to send very low frequencies to the listener by distorting higher frequencies.
- Send a sine wave with one pitch (ex. 435) to the left ear, and a separate sine with a different pitch (ex. 445) to the right ear. The difference (10, in this case) is the hertz of the beat.
- Only the difference matters—you can use anything for a carrier if 440 gets annoying.
