Splitting the Positive

Electricity does not necessarily flow from positive to negative. It flows from high pressure (volt) to low pressure (volt) which is typically the positive and negative of a pole.
When batteries are connected positive to positive and negative to negative, they cancel one another out. But if batteries are in series the pressure rises and current is able to flow from the 3V to 1.5V with a differential of 1.5V.

- some reports that ex. lights do not generate waste heat when connected in this way.
